An Ely man was reportedly surrounded by beer cans when North Liberty Police found him passed out in a parking lot Wednesday night.

According to arrest reports, an officer observed 52-year-old Stacy Fledge of Glendale Lane pull into the Urban Fuel location on Hawkeye Drive earlier in the evening, and after still seeing him there at around 9:45pm, checked on his welfare.

They allegedly came upon him passed out behind the wheel, surrounded by beer cans. Police say he was visibly intoxicated and performed poorly on initial field testing before he refused additional testing of any kind.

When arrested for OWI, Flege allegedly fought with officers. He reportedly refused to get into the back seat of the squad car, and had to be forced inside. During the scuffle, he kicked an officer, who suffered a bloody knee.

Flege was charged with his second OWI and Interference with Official Acts causing Bodily Injury. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to three years in prison.
