An Ely man has been arrested on several charges after walking in the downtown Iowa City area with an open container of alcohol.
20-year-old Izaak Lindgren of Old School Road was observed with the open container near Gilbert and Court Streets just before 1am Sunday. Officers identified themselves and attempted to stop Lindgren, but he reportedly began to run. He allegedly ignored their commands to stop running, but was eventually caught.
Lindgren reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and smelled strongly of ingested alcohol. He also had a fictitious Tennessee license under a different name showing him to be 23-years-old. Post arrest, officers also discovered approximately two grams of marijuana on Lindgren.
He was charged with public intoxication, possession of alcohol under legal age, Possession of fake ID, Interference with Official Acts, and marijuana possession. If convicted on all counts, Lindgren could be sentenced to over two years in jail.
