Ped Mall Playground Concepts

The City of Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department is seeking the public’s input on a new playground for the Ped Mall. City officials say the current playground is being replaced due to aging equipment and difficulty making repairs needed for safe use.

The new playground will replace the current playground located just west of the Iowa City Public Library, and near the Weatherdance Fountain. The playground is expected to be completed by spring 2022.

The public is invited to look at the proposed new playground concepts posted on the City’s website, and give the Parks and Recreation Department their feedback on which they think is best. The public is asked to send their feedback by 5 p.m., Monday, May 3, 2021.

Comments can be submitted through the city’s online public input form.
