An Olds, Iowa man was arrested after failing to appear for arraignment on theft charges from an incident that occurred this past fall.

Police arrested 42-year-old Aaron Huffman in the early hours of September 29th after he allegedly stole supplies from Merit Electric on Highland Court. The reporting party saw Huffman on surveillance video, allegedly pulling items through a fence and placing them in his pickup. Officers located him blocks away from the scene in the truck, and items taken from Merit were in plain view in the bed of the truck.

Huffman allegedly told officers he was out scrapping from dumpsters, and admitted he took the items from Merit Electric with the intention to sell them for scrap. Business management arrived on scene and estimated that Huffman had stolen around $450 worth of items.

Huffman failed to appear for his November 30th arraignment, and a warrant for his arrest was granted the following day. He was arrested Wednesday and an arraignment date of May 3rd was set by judge Deborah Minot.

If convicted of 4th degree Theft charges, Huffman could be sentenced to up to a year in jail.
