Cedar Rapids Police now say that the victim of a shots fired incident Thursday night has died from his injuries and are investigating the incident as a homicide.
Calls came at around 9:30pm about shots fired near the 1600 block of 32nd Street Northeast. As officers were en route, they were notified by additional 911 calls that an individual was observed running from a residence and leaving the scene in a vehicle.
When authorities arrived, they found a 26-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds behind a parked vehicle in the driveway at 1655 32nd Street Northeast.
Emergency medical care was administered at the scene, but the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on site at approximately 10pm.
Evidence collected at the scene by police included multiple shell casings in the backyard near the house and detached garage. Authorities believe this was a targeted incident, and no suspects have been arrested at this time.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.
