CR Police investigating shots fired incident

Cedar Rapids police are investigating a Friday morning shots fired incident.

According to a release from the city, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area between the 600 and 800 blocks of 15th Street Southeast just before 10:15am.  Upon arrival, they located two homes that were apparently struck by gunfire and several shell casings.

Witnesses stated that a suspect fled on foot from the area. As a precaution, McKinley Middle School was secured as the suspect was still at large.

No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
