A Coralville woman with a history of alcohol-related arrests has been taken into custody again after an incident in downtown Iowa City.

Police responded to a 911 call Thursday night around 10:45 in the 300 block of East Washington Street on reports of a woman who had left a bar and was falling down while walking away. Officers located the woman, 24-year-old Shanna Iglehart, as she allegedly fell down once again. She was reportedly observed with slurred speech, impaired balance, and smelled strongly of ingested alcohol.

Police say that while Iglehart was sitting on the ground, she allegedly leaned back and forcefully kicked an officer in the back, right below the Iowa City Police text on their uniform.

Iglehart was taken into custody and charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations and Public Intoxication. She could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail if convicted.

Iglehart was accused of assaulting her sister in the residence they shared in December after the sister confronted Iglehart about spilled hot sauce on the stairs that she refused to clean up. Officers called to the scene reported that Iglehart was intoxicated and uncooperative. She was charged with Domestic Assault Causing Injury and simple Domestic Assault.

She was brought before the court in early March for multiple violations of her probation granted to her after getting her second OWI in 2019.  She appeared to be intoxicated and was directed to take a breath test, showing a blood-alcohol content of .287 percent. She was taken into custody as it was believed Iglehart was a danger to herself and the community.

A probation revocation hearing is scheduled for April 26th.
