A Muscatine man was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting his live-in partner Monday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 200 block of Holiday Road in Coralville just before 2pm on reports of an assault.  27-year-old Nemecio Lake-Rosales reportedly was involved in an altercation with the victim, who he co-parents a minor child with.

During the altercation, police say Lake-Rosales choked the victim by applying pressure around their neck, and is also accused of having bit the victim in the hand, causing bleeding.

Lake-Rosales has a previous conviction for Domestic Assault from January 2020.

He was taken into custody and charged with 2nd offense Domestic Assault, and Domestic Abuse Assault restricting Airflow. If convicted on both counts, Lake-Rosales could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.

A no-contact order was requested between the two parties.
