One in five Johnson County residents has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
That’s according to an update released by the University of Iowa on Friday. The update states that as of Friday morning, 31,311 Johnson County residents had completed a two-dose series. Another 1,074 had completed single-dose vaccinations.
An estimated 18,143 residents have completed a single dose of the two-dose series. That breaks down to 33.61% of Johnson County’s population having received at least one dose of a vaccine. 21.24% have been fully vaccinated.
The UI itself reported six new cases of COVID-19 among students between Wednesday and Friday and two new cases among employees in that timeframe. Zero residence hall occupants are currently in quarantine, and none are in self-isolation. Quarantine is used to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others, while self-isolation is used separate those diagnosed with the virus from healthy students.
