North Liberty man accused of violating no contact order and assaulting victim

A North Liberty man has been taken into custody after being accused of trying to get an alleged victim to drop assault charges against him and assaulting the victim.

Police say the incident occurred on March 18th at approximately 3am. 37 –year-old Tacoa Talley of Prairie Ridge Road allegedly was pressuring the victim to drop charges against them where a protective order was issued on February 28th. When the victim refused, the altercation turned physical.

Talley reportedly pushed the victim to the ground, and struck them multiple times on the head, causing severe bruising and a laceration. He also allegedly struck the victim in the eye, causing bruising. Talley then reportedly tried to choke the victim, who later reported that they struggled to breathe during the altercation.

A warrant was issued for Talley’s arrest, and he was taken into custody Tuesday morning. He’s been charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Airflow, violation of a no-contact order, and Tampering with a Witness. If convicted on all counts, Talley could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.

An additional no-contact order was requested.
