Another former area news anchor is throwing her hat into the political ring.

Tiffany O’Donnell, who currently is the CEO of Women Lead Change in Cedar Rapids, has filed a statement of organization with the state Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board, and the Cedar Rapids Gazette reports she is expected to make a formal announcement Tuesday.

O’Donnell anchored the news on CBS affiliate KGAN for 15 years before joining Iowa Women Lead Change in 2015. She’s also been active in several community organizations, such as the Iowa Children’s Museum and Alzheimer’s Association of East Central Iowa.

She’s the second TV anchor recently who’s gone into politics. Former KCRG TV anchor Ashley Hinson left the station to run for state representative and unseated Abby Finkenour to become Iowa’s first district congresswoman this past November.

She’ll be challenging incumbent mayor Brad Hart in the November 2nd election. Her campaign website is www.tiffany4mayor.com.
