An Iowa City man has been arrested after allegedly being found with marijuana during a traffic stop.

Officers were dispatched to the area of East Court Street and Scott Court Sunday at 6pm on reports of suspicious activity. While in the area, they saw a Ford Focus drive past with expired registration. A traffic stop was initiated, and a strong odor of marijuana was reportedly detected.

18-year-old Colin Evans of Raven Street was a passenger in the vehicle, and allegedly admitted to possessing the drug. A probable cause search located two plastic containers containing marijuana, a grinder, a blunt full of marijuana, a scale covered in marijuana shake, and a baggie containing marijuana wax. Evans allegedly admitted that all the items belonged to him.

He was taken into custody for a controlled substance charge, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released later that night.
