An Iowa City man was taken into custody twice this week after being accused of multiple assaults on a woman at his residence.

Police were called to the Woodside Drive residence of 34-year-old Darnell Muldrow at 2pm Tuesday. The woman told officers that she was sleeping when Muldrow woke her up and accused her of cheating on him. The two began arguing, and it reportedly turned physical when Muldrow pushed the woman into a wall. She suffered a scratch on her arm as a result.

The woman told police that this is an ongoing issue, and that Muldrow has assaulted her multiple times over the past week. Officers noted that the woman had bruising on her arms and lower back.

Muldrow was jailed and charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor.

Then in the 2am hour the next day, the woman was making dinner when Muldrow grabbed her from behind and pulled her to the ground. She allegedly tried to call 911, but Muldrow took her phone and threw it to the ground, breaking it.

Muldrew was charged with domestic abuse assault and obstruction of emergency communications, both simple misdemeanors. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 14 months in jail.
