Victim identified in Friday night IC homicide

The Iowa City Police Department and the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office have released the identity of the victim of Friday night’s shooting death in Iowa City.

The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Quincy Russom of Iowa City. Based on initial information, including the preliminary autopsy results, the incident is being investigated as a homicide by gunshot.

Police earlier said officers were called to an apartment in the 600 block of South Governor Street just before 8pm Friday for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Russom deceased. A witness advised that three men entered the residence, shot Russom, and fled.

The ICPD continues to request information from anyone who has information regarding this case. The Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects in these matters. Individuals providing information do not have to reveal their identity to collect a reward.

Police say there does not appear to be a safety threat to the general public at this time.
