A house fire in Cedar Rapids Monday afternoon displaced the residents.

A release from the city’s Fire Department indicates that they were dispatched to the 2000 block of Eastern Boulevard Southeast just before 1:30pm after an occupant called in a report of a house fire.

Arriving crews found smoke coming from the attic and roof area. They were able to confine the fire in that area, then found the main body of the blaze in a second floor bedroom. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire, keeping the main fire damage to the bedroom, with limited fire and smoke damage throughout the rest of the home. The occupants were out of the house by the time crews began taking on the fire.

No injuries were reported, and no damage estimate has been made available. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
