Bids are now being accepted for the purchase of the old Roosevelt Elementary building on Greenwood Drive.
In a Friday news release, Iowa City Community School District officials say bids must be submitted by March 2nd.
The building was built in 1931, with an addition in 1961, and is approximately 30,000 square feet. The property includes nine acres.
The school board voted to close the building as an elementary school in 2012. It was rebranded as the Theodore Roosevelt Education Center and housed several non-traditional district programs until the board closed it for those purposes in 2019.
For those interested in touring the facility, the building will be open on Wednesday, February 17th and Monday, February 22nd from 1:00-3:00 PM. District personnel will be on-site.
