Hitting a bridge near Kent Park has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest on drunk driving charges.
40-year-old Eugene Beard of Spruce Street was called in as an intoxicated driver leaving a residence late Saturday night. His 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee was located just after midnight on Stephans Street in Tiffin, and a deputy conducted a traffic stop. Beard allegedly admitted to drinking and showed signs of intoxication. The deputy who stopped him says he registered a .086% blood alcohol content on a Datamatser test.
Beard had allegedly struck a bridge near the Park View manufactured housing community on Lower Old Highway 6, near Kent Park between Oxford and Tiffin. He’s charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
