Police have charged an Iowa City man with violating a no-contact order after he was found sleeping in the back of the protected party’s car.

According to arrest records, Iowa City Police were called to an address on North 1st Avenue just before 4:15 Saturday morning for a male who would not leave the residence. The suspect, 32-year-old Samuel Pitts of Sterling Court, then allegedly fled the scene in the protected party’s car before officers could arrive.

Police located the vehicle just after 7:30 Saturday morning about a block away. It was parked in the Hy-Vee Drugstore parking lot with Pitts asleep in the back seat. Pitts admitted to violating the order and was charged with a No-Contact Order Violation.

Pitts had previously bragged about violating the order on a daily basis since the day it was issued. He made news in 2019 after his arrest for Operating While Intoxicated when he was found in possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms and claimed the pants he was wearing were not his.
