Fire damaged a Cedar Rapids residence Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to 1121 38th Street NW just before 12:45pm for a possible chimney fire. Arriving units discovered smoke coming from the attic. When they moved to the back of the house, they found fire on the back exterior extending up the wall to the attic. All of the occupants had safely evacuated the structure.

Three hose lines and three ladders were required to extinguish the blaze. The roof suffered heavy smoke and fire damage. There was also moderate damage to the kitchen and living room areas.

There were no reported injuries, although the family was displaced. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
