An area transient has been arrested after allegedly slamming a woman to the ground.

According to police, 49-year-old Mambu Fulgham was seen on a witness’ cellphone picking a woman up and slamming her onto the ground in the area of 21st Avenue off Broadway Street Thursday just before 12:45am. The woman victim said her temple and eye made forceful contact with the ground, and was crying as a result of the pain.

Other witnesses said that Fulgham was involved, and called him by his nickname in the cellphone video. Fulgham allegedly confirmed to police his name and nickname.

Fulgham was taken into custody and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.

Fulgham was found guilty on a trespass charge in October of last year and was fined.
