Allegedly throwing his laptop into a ditch near Swisher has led to a Cedar Rapids man’s arrest on child pornography charges.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says that on May 5th of last year witnesses observed 32-year-old Dosselle Carter of College Park Ct. SW discarding a laptop along northbound Interstate 380 near the Swisher/Shueyville exit. Records on the laptop confirmed Carter as the owner.

A search of the laptop turned up 13 images appearing to depict minors engaging in sex acts. The original files had been deleted, but copies remained in the databases. Records showed the files had been accessed between March 22nd and May 5th.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children confirmed four of the images contained children identified as victims from the United States, Europe and South America.

Carter was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 11:15 Saturday night and charged with 13 counts of Possession of the Depiction of a Minor in a Sex Act. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 26 years in prison.
