An Iowa City woman whose cellphone got several calls from known meth users while it was in the hands of police faces meth possession charges.

Police say 64-year-old Sarah Nash of Bittersweet Court was a passenger in a vehicle whose driver was found in possession of methamphetamine the afternoon of September 18th. A subsequent search of the vehicle and Nash reportedly turned up nearly 12 grams of meth in her purse. Police say there were two small bags of meth wrapped up individually, with the rest in one bag. Nash also allegedly had a digital scale on her that had meth residue.

Officers seized Nash’s phone, and while they had it in their possession, Nash received over ten calls from known meth users. Nash also reportedly was in possession of  $300 in cash.

A warrant was issued for Nash on Tuesday, and she was taken into custody that night. She’s been released on her own recognizance, and has been charged with a Class B Controlled Substance Violation, and failure to affix a Drug Tax stamp. If convicted on the charges, Nash faces a prison term of up to 30 years.
