Getting stuck in a snowbank early Monday led to an Iowa City woman’s OWI arrest.

According to police, an off-duty officer observed and called dispatch about a vehicle that was stuck in a snow pile on the side of the road just before 2am. Arriving officers located the vehicle stuck on northbound Dodge Street near the I-80 interchange. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Daniella Brown of South Dubuque Street, allegedly showed signs of intoxication. She reportedly admitted to drinking earlier in the night, had slow slurred speech, poor motor skills and a heavy odor of alcohol when speaking.

Brown performed poorly on field tests, refused a PBT, but did agree to a Datamaster test. Her blood-alcohol level was measured at .195 percent.

She was charged with her first OWI, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to 1 year if convicted.
