An Iowa City man faces additional charges of Child Endangerment after being arrested for his second OWI.

Police stopped 41-year-old Marco Gentiluomo of Pine Street Sunday night just before 6:30 after failing to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Ginter Avenue and Pine Street. They allege that he began speeding southbound on Pine, going too fast for conditions at the time. After Gentiluomo drifted into the oncoming lane, a traffic stop was initiated.

After making contact, Gentiluomo allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, impaired speech, and the odor of ingested alcohol. He reportedly said that he hadn’t had any alcohol to drink that day. Once asked out of the car, Gentiluomo allegedly admitted to having had something to drink two hours before. Field testing showed measurable impairment, and a PBT showed his blood-alcohol content at .184 percent. A subsequent Datamaster test resulted in a .182 percent BAC.

Gentiluomo’s 13 and 15 year-old children were in the vehicle with him during the incident.

He was charged with his second OWI and Child Endangerment. If convicted on both counts, Gentiluomo could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.
