A Coralville man accused of stealing women’s underwear at an Iowa City laundromat earlier this month was arrested Sunday.

Police say the incident occurred on the evening  of December 18th at the Clean Laundry location on Highway 1 West. A woman was washing her clothing there when 37-year-old Nicholas Cohrs of Holiday Road reportedly can be seen on video removing items from her washing machine while she was away from it. The video allegedly shows Cohrs placing the items in a cart and moving the cart between the rows of machines. He’s seen sorting through the items and placing some of them in his backpack.

Cohrs reportedly denied knowing anything about the clothes. Later, the woman realized three pieces of underwear were missing.

On Sunday afternoon, Cohrs was visually identified by the woman at the laundromat; she contacted police, who arrested him. During the arrest, Cohrs is accused of abruptly running from the officers and ignoring  commands to stop. He reportedly had to be taken to the ground by officers, resulting in abrasions to police and to Cohrs.

Cohrs was charged with 3rd degree Theft and Interference with Official Acts resulting in Bodily Injury. If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison.
