Iowa City police are seeking the public’s help in their investigation of a weekend robbery.
According to a release from the city, the incident occurred on Saturday evening. Officers responded to the area of Muscatine and First avenues for a report of a robbery at 7:48pm. They located the adult man, who stated he was in the parking lot of Kum & Go on Muscatine Avenue., when a woman approached him asking for assistance getting into her nearby residence.
The man described the woman as in her twenties, dark-skinned, wearing a blue sweatshirt, and a pink cloth mask covering her nose and mouth. He agreed to help the women, and she led him into the alley just south of 2200 block of Muscatine Avenue. When they reached the alley, the woman sprayed him in the face with a chemical believed to be pepper spray. Two dark-skinned males then appeared in the alley and assaulted the man, taking an undisclosed amount of property and/or money from him.
The victim suffered minor injuries in the assault, but declined medical attention. No additional suspect descriptions or information is available at this time.
