An Iowa City man has been banned “for life” from a Coralville hotel after an incident Friday night.
Coralville Police were called to the Comfort Suites on James Street just before midnight Friday night for a suspicious male. Staff told arriving officers that a man was in a bathroom and they wanted him trespassed. The suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Ladarrel Jones of Rochester Avenue, had locked himself in the bathroom and ignored multiple requests from hotel staff to leave the premises.
Police say Jones refused their commands as well and pulled away from officers as he was being placed under arrest. As Jones was being escorted away, he was informed he was banned from the hotel for life.
Jones is charged with 1st Offense Trespassing, a Simple Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of 30 days in jail. He was released from the Johnson County Jail just before 8:45 Saturday morning.
