A domestic abuse suspect faces charges that he asked his victim for a ride home from jail after a judge issued a no-contact order.
47-year-old David White of the Regency manufactured housing community was initially arrested on a warrant Thursday night by University of Iowa Police for an incident that allegedly occurred at his Blackfoot Trail residence on October 23rd. White’s wife told Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies that the previous night she and White had been arguing. She says she woke up just after 7:15 the next morning to find White putting his hands around her throat and applying pressure, but not enough to cut off her airflow. He also allegedly threatened to kill her. White is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Airflow, an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison.
Judge Deborah Minot issued a no-contact order between White and his wife, and he was released from the Johnson County Jail just after 9am Friday. White allegedly asked a deputy to call his wife to pick him up. She told the officer there was a no-contact order in place. White told the officer he knew about the order, but had no one else to call.
White eventually called his father-in-law, who picked him up and dropped him off at his residence. The sheriff’s office says White went inside, made contact with his wife, then left on foot. He was arrested again just after 10:30 Friday morning and charged with a no-contact order violation.
