Members of the University of Iowa Athletics Department look like they’re doing outstanding work in keeping the coronavirus at bay.
Monday, the U released testing results for the week ending October 4th. 644 tests were conducted, and only four members of the department tested positive. That’s about 6/10ths of one percent positive.
Overall, since testing began May 29th, 237 positive tests out of 5843 total show a positivity rate of 0.46 percent.
Also on Monday, the Hawkeyes announced that two players have elected to opt-out of the 2020 football season due to the pandemic. Djimon Colbert, a junior linebacker, and Taahhir McCall, a redshirt freshman defensive lineman, filed the necessary paperwork following their decision. They will not be penalized in any way for their actions.
Iowa opens at Purdue two weeks from Saturday.
