Weekend studiers at the University of Iowa can now return to the school’s main library.

The UI announced Friday that after listening to student input and carefully considering safety factors, University Libraries is opening the Main Library Learning Commons on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m., starting this weekend.

Students, faculty, and staff can swipe in at the north entrance.

Face coverings are required, even when sitting six or more feet from others in secluded areas of the library. Library users may remove face coverings only in designated enclosed spaces. Students can reserve personal, enclosed spaces at the Main Library (LIB), Hardin Library (HLHS), and other campus buildings at studentspace.uiowa.edu.

The Main Library Learning Commons is already open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and now Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Main Library Collections (second and third floors) are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
