Pretrial release has been revoked for a North Liberty man accused of having six pounds of marijuana in his residence, then later being in possession of a knife while violating a no-contact order.
51-year-old Bryce Peterson was initially arrested on February 1st after North Liberty Police were called to his Cherry Court residence for a domestic dispute involving a baseball bat. During an investigation into the incident, investigators discovered over six pounds of marijuana along with a large amount of candy and peanut butter cookies that contained THC.
Peterson was also arrested on August 24th after he allegedly called the protected party in a no-contact order late the previous night, holding a conversation that lasted several minutes.
Authorities found Peterson at 1:10 the next morning near A Street and 3rd Avenue and took him into custody. An officer offered to roll up the windows in Peterson’s vehicle for him, and while doing so reportedly located a silver Benchmade spring-operated knife.
Peterson doesn’t meet any of the criteria to possess the offensive weapon, including it being prohibited as part of the no-contact order.
Peterson had been on pretrial release on numerous charges stemming from both incidents, but online records show he was arrested for violating the no-contact order again on September 1st, then contacted the protected party one more time via email on September 5th.
On Monday Judge Paul Miller revoked Peterson’s pretrial release. He remains in the Johnson County Jail.
