A Coralville man convicted for several local burglaries is back behind bars after allegedly violating his probation.

41-year-old Tywon Stanton was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 2:45 Saturday afternoon. Online records show Stanton failed to make contact with his parole officer on July 10th. On July 15th the parole officer visited Stanton’s listed residence, which is with his mother on 2nd Street. His mother said Stanton did not live there and she hadn’t seen him in a week. His whereabouts were unknown, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Stanton is on probation after his conviction for burglaries at the University of Iowa softball complex, Sparti’s on the Coralville Strip and Beepcell Communications on South Gilbert Street in Iowa City.

In 2018 he pleaded guilty to a Making a False Report to a Public Entity charge after making up a story about being beaten by three men at a busy Iowa City intersection. Stanton later admitted to making up the story to avoid getting in trouble for being late returning to Hope House.
