A Grand Rapids Michigan man was taken into custody for an alleged OWI after having trouble with a traffic signal.

According to police, 19-year-old Safari Mulumba was observed at the intersection of Burlington and Dodge Street Saturday at approximately 7pm, stopped although he reportedly had a green light. When the light turned red, Mulumba is accused of driving through the signal. He was stopped, and an odor of ingested alcohol was coming from the vehicle and his person.

A measurable amount of impairment was found on field testing, and a PBT showed a blood-alcohol level of .135 percent. A subsequent Datamaster test read the level at .155.

Mulumba was charged with his first OWI, a serious misdemeanor.
