A Cedar Rapids woman has been arrested for her alleged part in a burglary at a Solon storage unit.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old Kelly Grulkey of 19th Avenue SW entered A+ Lake MacBride Storage on Ely Road around 10:45pm on August 5th. She allegedly entered a storage unit and stole over $1,500 in property.
Investigators say surveillance video captured the incident, including showing the female suspect and a white male arriving at the storage units in a blue BMW with plastic covering the rear window. It was determined that the vehicle belonged to Grulke.
During an interview with the sheriff’s office, Grulke allegedly admitted that the car was hers, and that the male was her boyfriend, Jeth Johnson. Geographical location information for Johnson’s Google account allegedly shows him at A+ Lake MacBride Storage at the time of the burglary. It also places him at the Marion Motel prior to and directly after the burglary. Grulkey was known to reside at the motel at the time of the break-in.
Grulkey is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary and 3rd Degree Theft. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
There is no word on charges against Johnson.
