The city of Iowa City has reopened Summit Street between Court and Bowery Streets after crews were able to clear downed power lines and trees from Monday’s storm.
In a release from the City, they warn that some areas may take days to clear due to the large amount of damage, with multiple trees being caught in power lines. Mid-American Energy is working to restore power to those still suffering without power, and cleanup crews will come into those areas once they’re assured that the area is safe.
Muscatine Avenue remains closed between Dearborn Street and Seventh Avenue, as is Dodge Street between Burlington and Bowery streets.
Residents are again urged to stay away from downed power lines and to make sure to practice COVID-19 mitigation procedures during the cleanup process.
