The City of Coralville announced a new temporary site for residents to bring their tree debris, as crews continue to clear downed limbs and trees from parks and trails.

Coralville citizens can now drop off tree debris at the Hawkeye Express train lot at 2430 James Street, just south of the Comfort Inn and Suites. The site will be open from 7am to 6pm seven days a week, and is limited to Coralville residents only; no commercial haulers will be allowed.

The Iowa City Landfill is accepting debris from the storm at no charge; they’re open from 7am to 4:30 Mondays-Saturdays. Lines and wait times are expected, so you’re being urged to plan accordingly.

The city will pick up tree debris at the curb as well. They’re not requiring you to tie bundles of tree debris. Branches and limbs must be no greater than six inches in diameter, but they can be up to six feet long. The city will pick this debris up over the next few weeks, and asks for your patience as they work to collect all the city’s debris.

Other yard debris can be placed your 33-gallon container with the annual yard waste sticker, or with biodegradable Coralville yard waste bags.

The City Council cancelled their Tuesday meeting and instead will meet on the 18th.

Finally, the Recreation Center and Aquatic center remain without power and is closed. Once power is restored, officials say it will take at least 8 to 10 hours to restore correct filtration and disinfection levels before it will open to the public.

Phone service to the Parks and Rec Department remains down; urgent messages can be left at City Hall.
