A Coralville man who was reportedly found passed out on a fork lift at a North Liberty construction site was arrested on drug charges.
According to arrest reports, 25-year-old Ray Troyer of 21st Avenue Place was called in as being passed out in a large fork-lift style piece of construction equipment on Brook Ridge Avenue Monday at about 8:20pm. The caller reportedly stated that Troyer had been in that state for several hours, and the engine of the equipment was still running.
Upon contact, police determined that Troyer was under the influence and arrested him. A check of his driving record showed his status as barred as a habitual offender for a four-year period ending in June 2023. A search incident to arrest allegedly revealed a small Ziploc baggie containing a white-powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Troyer has two previous convictions for possession of a controlled substance; in Washington County from 2017 and Linn County from 2019. He’s now charged with 3rd or subsequent, a Class D Felony. With the OWI and Driving While Barred charges, Troyer could be sentenced to up to eight years in prison if convicted on all counts.
