A Coralville man reportedly called 911 on himself and was arrested on assault charges.
Police were called to the 900 block of Boston Way Wednesday morning after a 911 hang up call. When they arrived on scene, they were met by 33-year-old Dewade Stallings outside his apartment. According to the arrest report, Stallings told officers that he was the one who called 911 and needed to go to jail.
Police spoke with the victim, who was involved in a physical fight in the apartment’s living room. She and Stallings share children together, and they were present during the incident. The woman suffered a big laceration and blood on her face and shirt after Stallings reportedly struck her.
Stallings admitted to the assault under Miranda and provided a written statement.
He’s been initially charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a maximum jail term of one year. A no-contact order was requested between Stallings and the victim.
