Flipping off an officer with the Department of Natural Resources has led to the arrest of a Cedar Rapids man.

The DNR officer was conducting a boat stop on the Coralville Reservoir around 4:30 Sunday afternoon when she noticed a man standing near the beach at the Sugar Bottom Recreation Area. She reports the man yelled at her, then held up his middle finger for an extended period of time.

The man then got into his car along with a woman and a child. The DNR officer said he then peeled out of the busy parking lot at a high rate of speed. She checked his license plate with state radio, and it did not match the vehicle.

Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies pulled the car over a short time later on Sugar Bottom Road. The driver, later identified as 21-year-old Nathan Evans of 2nd Street Southwest, was arrested for Driving While Barred.
