A Georgia man was taken into custody Saturday night after rolling his truck on Highway 1 near Solon.

According to police, 56-year-old Robert Miller of Snellville was on the 1500 block of Highway 1 Northeast just before 10pm when they found his truck wrecked on the side of the road. He allegedly told officers that he went too far off the shoulder, causing his vehicle to roll.

Miller was observed with the odor of ingested alcohol, bloodshot watery eyes and he allegedly admitted to drinking two “Easy Eddy” beers at the Shack Bar earlier. He showed impairment on testing, and a PBT recorded a blood alcohol level of .224 percent. A subsequent Datamaster reading came up .189.

Police also allegedly found a brass pipe in plain view, located in the driver-side cup holder. Miller admitted under Miranda that he used it to smoke marijuana about eight hours earlier.

He was arrested and charged with first offense OWI and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted on both counts, Miller could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.
