An Iowa City Menard’s employee faces an Assault charge after allegedly bullying a co-worker.

Online records show 23-year-old Stephen Trafton of Anderson Avenue was at work around 1:30pm on July 9th when he passed a co-worker who was engaged in work-related activities. Police say Trafton asked another Menard’s employee to pay him to dump water on the alleged victim’s head. Trafton then allegedly walked over to the co-worker and dumped a half-bottle of water mixed with water flavoring on his head.

The alleged victim requested a no-contact order against Trafton, which was granted on Tuesday. Police say the alleged victim detailed similar instances of being picked on in the workplace by Trafton.

Along with the Assault charge, Trafton also faces a charge of Driving While Suspended after he was seen on Menard’s surveillance video driving his girlfriend’s car to work despite having a suspended license.

The assault charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 days in jail upon conviction.
