The Johnson County Auditor’s Office says the first group of absentee ballot requests will be arriving at voter’s homes soon. Voters in rural Johnson County, the outlying small cities, and in senior living complexes will receive their postage-paid absentee requests starting with the coming week. Most voters in Coralville, North Liberty, Tiffin and University Heights will get their forms beginning August 3rd. Most Iowa City voters will get their pre-filled requests in mid to late August. Voters in the campus area, apartments, and trailer courts will receive requests in mid-September.
The absentee request forms will be pre-filled with the voter’s information. If all information is correct the voter only needs to sign and return the form. If information is not correct the voter is asked to fill in the correct information, sign and return the form. Ballots will be mailed beginning October 5.
Voters who have moved and did not update their voter registration address will NOT receive the pre-filled mailing. The auditor’s office will mail those voters a blank request form, which they may use to both update their address and request a ballot.
