A North Liberty man with past convictions for attacking his mother and threatening to slit a police officer’s throat is back behind bars after he allegedly threatened a family with a knife.
42-year-old Bradley Pechman is on probation after convictions for incidents that included shoving his mother to the ground and leading police on a brief chase while intoxicated and threatening to slit a University of Iowa Police officer’s throat after he was caught urinating on a sign at the UI Fieldhouse.
Online records show that around 6:15pm on June 21st, Pechman displayed a large kitchen knife in the presence of a woman, her friend and her two young daughters. Police say he began to stab at the air while staring at the four victims, and started laughing when the two girls started to cry.
Pechman then allegedly began stabbing the knife into a wooden bannister while staring at the four and laughing.
Officers located the knife at the scene. A warrant was issued for Pechman’s arrest on July 15th, and he was booked into the Johnson County Jail later that night.
