Swisher man faces child endangerment and domestic abuse charges

A Swisher man is facing charges stemming from a domestic incident Sunday night.

According to police, they were dispatched to the 2800 block of Water Street Northeast just before 6:10pm on reports of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, the officer talked to the alleged victim. She told police that 32-year-old Jeffery Kane, who she shares two children with, put her in a choke hold and punched her repeatedly while she was being choked.

Kane is also accused of taking her phone from her so that she could not call for help.

Bruising and abrasions were observed on the woman’s neck and arm. Their two children were present during the incident.

Kane was arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault impeding airflow, child endangerment, and obstruction of emergency communications. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to over four years in prison.

A no-contact order was requested between the parties involved.
