Shelter House resident accused of harassing restaurant customer with racial slurs, saying “black lives don’t matter”

A  Shelter House resident faces charges that he harassed a restaurant customer with racial slurs.

According to police records, 44-year-old Michael Dacunos walked up to a woman who was sitting in her car waiting for an order at Best China on Boyrum Street at around 10:45am on June 18th. Dacunos allegedly questioned the reason she was there, then called her racial names and a “bitch” before telling her “black lives don’t matter”.

Dacunos later told police he had been engaged in a “debate” with the woman and admitted to calling her a name, but he denied using racial slurs.

Dacunos is charged with 3rd Degree Harassment, a Simple Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of 30 days in jail. His initial court appearance is s set for September 8th
