A Coralville man was taken into custody Thursday on a warrant stemming from a child endangerment incident last month.

According to police, the incident occurred in the midday hours of May 27th, when 35-year-old Jeremiah Kiser of 5th Avenue reportedly punished the child for eating his yogurt.

Kiser, who had custody and control of the child at the time of the incident, struck the child in the face with a fly swatter, resulting in bleeding and bodily injury.

A warrant was issued earlier this week, and Kiser was booked into the Johnson County Jail Thursday afternoon. He’s been charged with child endangerment causing bodily injury, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years if convicted.
