A Chicago man was taken into custody after an alleged domestic assault early Thursday.

Officers were called to the 3500 block of Shamrock Place on a report of a domestic disturbance, and they arrived at approximately 3:33am. The victim said she was in a verbal confrontation with 26-year-old Daniel Davis when he reportedly became physical towards her.

According to the woman, Davis grabbed her by the shoulders in an upstairs bedroom and knocked her over a television stand, damaging the TV. He then allegedly grabbed the woman by the back of her head and ripped some hair out of her scalp. After going downstairs, Davis allegedly shoved her into a wall.

Davis had left the residence prior to police arriving, but he was seen nearby. Davis reportedly ran from the officers when told to stop, but was apprehended.

Davis reportedly had a strong odor of ingested alcohol, and a search turned up a small amount of marijuana in his pants. When questioned, Davis allegedly admitted that he got physical with the woman and to pushing her “hard.”

Davis was taken into custody and initially charged with domestic abuse assault, a simple misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to 30 days.

A no-contact order was requested between the two parties.
