Mooning an Iowa City Police supervisor has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.

According to police records, officers were called to the Eden Apartments on Muscatine Avenue numerous times the night of June 13th and the early morning of June 14th for multiple fights in progress. Police say 49-year-old Joel Steine was in one of the involved crowds when he stepped off his stoop multiple times and yelled at officers. He was drinking and showed multiple signs of intoxication.

When the crowd was finally told to disperse around 12:45am, Steine allegedly yelled at an ICPD supervisor on the scene, pulled down his pants and flashed his butt at him.

Stein was arrested and escorted to a squad car. On the way there, he allegedly tensed his arms and resisted officers. On the way to jail, Stein tried to slip his handcuffs. A search of his person at the Johnson County Jail turned up a pipe filled with freshly-packed and burnt marijuana.

Steine was charged with Public Intoxication, Interference with Official Acts and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He pleaded guilty and was fined $380.
