A Cedar Rapids man accused of assaulting an Iowa City woman with a knife is back behind bars.
48-year-old Carone Coleman of Johnson Avenue Northwest was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 4pm Friday. Coleman is accused of skipping a January 6th arraignment hearing.
Iowa City Police say that just after 12:30pm on March 26th, 2019 Coleman threatened a woman with a knife on the 1100 block of Hollywood Boulevard.
The woman believed she was going to be stabbed, but instead Coleman allegedly punched her in the face multiple times using the handle of the knife. The knife was described as having tape wrapped around the handle and was estimated at between eight and ten inches in length.
Coleman is charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of two years in prison.
