North Liberty man charged after gun and drug possession

A North Liberty man faces multiple years in prison after police found him with a loaded firearm and drugs at an Oxford residence.
Police were called to the Parkview Mobile Home Park on Lower Old Highway 6 Northwest at approximately 1:49am on Saturday on reports of an individual breaking into a residence and sitting with a firearm on a couch. As officers arrived, they were advised by the reporting party that 27-year-old Jaime Miles of Holiday Lodge Road was in the home of his wife. She and two grandchildren were also reportedly inside.
Miles is reportedly dating the couple’s daughter and they didn’t want him at the residence anymore.
Officers located Miles on the couch sitting next to an Under Armor bag. Inside, they reportedly found a loaded .380 caliber pistol and marijuana divided up into two large bags and three small bags. Police say the total weight of the marijuana was 167 grams.
Miles was placed under arrest and physically resisted when police attempted to put him into a squad car.
He was charged with dominon or control of a weapon as a felon; failure to affix a drug tax stamp; a controlled substance violation; and interference with official acts. If convicted on all counts, Miles could be senteneced to over fifteen years in prison.
